Makati City hikes senior citizens' cash incentives by PhP1,000

Outgoing Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay will her senior constituents contented and delighted as they are about to receive additional PhP1,000 cash incentives starting next month.

Binay who is on her third and last term in office as city executive signed City Ordinance No. 2025-104 providing for the adjustment of cash gift for active Blue Card Program members and senior citizens to be.

Under the ordinance, cash incentives will ge granted at PhP4,000 for ages 60 to 69; PhP5,000 for ages 70 to 79; PhP6,000 for ages 80 to 89; PhP11,000 for ages 90-99 and PhP12,000 for ages 101 and over.

Super seniors celebrating their 100th birthday will also expect a PhP100,000 cash gift and a plaque from the city government.

“We are happy to inform our beloved senior Makatizens that they will be receiving a bigger mid-year cash gift this July, and again in December for their yearend cash gift,” Binay announced.

She added: “We hope they could use the money for essential needs, especiall with the rising cost of goods.”

For senior citizens in the age brackets from 90 to 100 years, they should have a Blue Card for at least five years, as certified by the Makati Social Welfare Department.

If the requirement is not met, the elderly citizen will be entitled only to PhP6,000, the same amount received by octogenarians.

To be eligible for the cash incentive, applicants must be Makati residfents and voters for at least two years, and holder of a valid Blue Card of Makatizen Card.

Transferees, including former EMBO residents who now reside in Makati, have to wait for two years for them to re-establish residency and qualify for the incentives.

Under the ordinance, newly-qualified senior citizens registered between January to March 31 of each year will be eligible for both mid-year and year-end cash incentives.

Those registered between April 1 to September 30 will receive only the year end cash gift while those registered between October 1 to December 3 will not be qualified to either incentives.
