Experts advise on DYI of reversing the aging process

Quit smoking, drink in moderation and avoid sleeping late are the most common advice one can get if you want to live longer and get PHP10,000 on your milestone birthday or better still, receive the PHP100,000 on your 100th.

There are more, your doctor had already asked you to be moderate in consuming sugary and salty food, eat less or no red meat and take maintenance medicines on time to further increase your chances of reaching 80.

But doctors and other experts agree that adding a decade or more to your life can be achieved with steps that are simple.

In the United States, a 78-year-old doctor has claimed he has added 20 years to his life by simply following a do-it-yourself instructional manual that he devised.

Yahoo!Life printed Dr. Michael Roizen’s DYI in maintaining a biological age of 57.6 based on the condition of his organs.

But the most important first step is for you to be resolute in finish the project which will take the rest of your life to do.

If you have already been following the experts counsel presented in the first two paragraphs, the next is for you to realize that physical activity is a priority.

Try a workout that would include walking and reaching at least 10,000 each day. This may be a tall order for many, especially those still employed, but by tweaking your daily schedule, you might just achieve it or perhaps half of it.

An hour long brisk walking is good for the heart and may help a person avoid certain cancers. This will also help you maintain a healthy weight.

The American Medical Association has endorsed daily intake of multivitamins, in addition to vitamin C and E.

For food, try a regular meal with broccoli, cauliflower, kale or cabbage - either raw or cooked. Nuts are also endorsed for their high-nutrient components of healthful fats, plant protein, minerals, antioxidants and phytosterol.

Fruits such as pomegranate, berries and avocado are also being endorsed by diet experts worldwide.

Also for food, salmon, beans and mushroom and so are onions and garlic.

Complete your anti-flu, anti-pneumonia and anti-COVID vaccines to help you avoid respiratory illnesses that mostly affect elderly people.

Last but may be the best: stop stressing yourself. Reject guilt, think about the future and be with happy friends. Play games in your gadgets, especially those that will challenge how fast you are in making decisions. Praying will help a lot.
