MAKING a note on the leading causes of death in the Philippines that includes ischemic heart disease, neoplasms (cancer) and cerebrovascular diseases (stroke), Bureau of Local Health Development director Dr. Eric Tayag has underscored the need for people to manage their lives through healthy living and monitored routines in diet and physical activities.
Last year, Dr. Tayag retired from the Department of Health (DoH) as head of the agency's Public Health Services Cluster (PHSC) in charge of epidemiology, disease prevention and control and health promotion and in continuing his advocacy of spreading a healthy lifestyle, he is urging Filipinos to promote a natural blood vessel cleansing method that does not depend on expensive machines, does not require high costs and is accessible to everyone.
In a social media post, the former health undersecretary focused on the importance of maintaining clean blood vessels that could be achieved through the ingestion of the food supplement known as cholextrol which helps reduce bad cholesterol in the blood.
Although cholextrol has been flagged with a public health warning by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Department of Health (DOH) because it is unregistered and has not been evaluated by the FDA for its safety, quality and effectiveness, some of those who have used it has shared improvements in their health and well-being.
In promoting cholextrol, Dr. Tayag disclosed that for more than 35 years, he had devoted himself to the Philippine health sector in order to help build consciousness in the importance of being healthy and physically fit.
"Many people know me as an epidemiologist, a dancer in health media campaigns, a familiar face on television whenever there is an epidemic. But few know that I am a cardiologist and the reason I chose that path, stems from a profound loss in my life," he enthused to recall his father's passing away when was just a second-year medical student.
"My father (died) from a stroke. Suddenly. Silently. Without a last word. That feeling of helplessness followed me for many years. I wondered: How could a healthy man, with no obvious signs of illness, pass away in an instant? From that moment on, I promised myself: I must find the answer. Not only for my father. But for millions of others who could also pass away quietly like him," he shared.
So, he spent his youth researching cardiovascular diseases, during which he witnessed hundreds of patients with strokes, embolism and high blood pressure to the point of artery rupture.
"There were cases where I tried my best but still could not save them. With each person who died, I saw the image of my father.
And then, after many years immersed in medicine, I found something that seemed simple, but was the root of everything:
Blood vessels—the key to life," he looked back.
Dr. Tayag noted that when blood vessels are clean, blood circulates well, the heart works effectively and blood pressure is stable, the brain is not deprived of oxygen and there is no chance for stroke to appear. But when blood vessels are atherosclerotic, toxic, covered with cholesterol, death can come at any time—fast, silent and cruel.
He then started researching a natural blood vessel cleansing method and after hundreds of trials, adjustments and failures, he found the natural formula that can vlean the blood vessel walls, stabilize blood pressure, reduce blood fat and help prevent stroke.
The first test on 100 patients with high blood pressure brought surprising results:
80 percent of patients registered d stable blood pressure after only 60 days. However, the original method had disadvantages because it was difficult to drink, had unpleasant taste that caused many people to give up halfway.
"I understood, a good method must be easy to use to reach the community. So I started to improve, turning that formula into a milk form—easy to drink, light aroma, but still keeping the same effectiveness. I still remember the first time I heard feedback from a patient: 'Doctor, for the first time in 10 years, I measured my blood pressure and my heart stopped pounding. The milk you gave me is as easy to drink as breakfast… and I feel alive again'.” he said.
In ending, Dr. Tayag enjoined the public to
