UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Fil-American balladeer Sofronio Vasquez has barged in as part of the Top 8 of the ongoing ‘The Voice USA’ competition at the Universal Studios Hollywood in California.

Vasquez shared the good news in his social media post where he thanked his coach, Canadian singer-songwriter Michael Bublé, with a heartfelt “Daghang Salamat” for the ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ opportunity.

“I made it to Top 8! Thank you Lord and now it’s in America’s hands. Daghang salamat coach Michael Bublé for this opportunity. Not wasting this chance,” he posted.

Vasquez performed his version of Roy Orbison’s immortal song ‘Crying’ during ‘The Voice’ playoffs, which received a standing ovation from the audience, including Bublé, who won the Canadian Youth Talent Search at 18 in 1993.

Previously, the Fil-Am singer competed in the ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ segment of the popular television program ‘It’s Showtime’, where he easily captured attention due to his powerful voice and velvety-rich tone.

At ‘The Voice’, Vasquez showed his versatility as a performer who aside from being able to sing a vast repertoire of songs from pop to RnB to rock to standard to jazz, is also an accomplished rapper.
