GSIS COMPLEX, Pasay City — In support of the national government's initiative for energy conservation amid the Middle East crisis, the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) will adopt starting today, March 9, a four-day on-site workweek in preparation of the expected price hike on petroleum products and to mitigate its possible impact on the country's economy.
In an announcement, GSIS president and general manager Arnulfo 'Wick' Veloso explaine that the four-day weekly schedule will have the agency's frontline services open from Monday to Friday but under the temporary special work arrangement, GSIS employees will report on-site from Monday to Thursday, while Fridays will be observed as a mandatory work-from-home (WFH) day for personnel.
GM Veloso, however, clarified that frontline personnel, however, will follow regular work shifts to ensure that GSIS service counters, including the Lobby and Pensioners Lounge, remain open and accessible to members and pensioners during weekdays from Monday to Friday.
“The move supports the directive of our dear President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. for government agencies, including government-owned and controlled corporations, to implement energy-saving measures amid rising global fuel and electricity costs linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East,” he asserted while adding that the measure will remain in effect until further notice.
“GSIS fully supports the national government’s call for energy conservation. Through this temporary work arrangement, we aim to reduce operational energy consumption while ensuring that our members and pensioners continue to receive the quality service they deserve,” he underscored.
In addition to the energy-saving measure, Veloso cited that their recently installed solar power system will help minimize energy use during the new work setup with consumption on Fridays becoming practically free because of our the agency's existing solar panels.
In conclusion, he reminded all GSIS offices and personnel that they remain responsible for ensuring continuous service delivery while complying with the temporary work arrangement.
