SMART ARANETA COLISEUM, Cubao, Quezon City — Going into Game 3 of their best-of-seven PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday night, spitfirish Rhon Jay 'RJ' Abarrientos finished what Fil-Am Jamie James Malonzo Orme had started as Barangay Ginebra turned back a San Miguel rally in the final quarter of their match up.

Abarrientos finished with 24 points as the Gin Kings trounced the Beermen, 100 to 90, doing a bit of everything to stave the opposition and fire a third of his score in the last 12 minutes of the game.
From an even 1-1, Ginebra has now retaken the lead, 2-1, in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA)'s Season 49 Philippine Cup semifinal series.

Early in the hardcourt battle, Abarientos' heroics kept San Miguel at bay with his nine rebounds and eight assists to allow Ginebra dictate the tempo of the contest behind a 25-14 quarter scoring.

Power forward Japeth Aguilar added 18 points while Scottie Thompson had 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Stephen Holt chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds as well.

Ginebra was only up by five, 85-80, early in the final frame before it unloaded a deciding 15-4 run that put the game away after the Kings seized a huge 100-86 advantage with 1:15 left—much to the delight of the Ginebra's 'never-say-die' fans in the good-sized Big Dome crowd.
