As 1,000 American paratroopers await deployment to the Middle East, the Us has sent to Iran a 15-point proposal leading to a ceasefire to end the four-week old war,.
Officials from Pakistan said on Wednesday (March 25) that the proposal covered sanctions relief, civilian nuclear cooperation, a retreat to Iran’s nucelar program, monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency and access for shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Talks with Iran will involve Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his ambassadors Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
However, Lt. CoL. Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for the Iranian military , chided the US claims of possible ceasefire negotiations.
Zolfaghari said the American could be merely negotiating with themselves.
“The strategic power you used to talk about has turned into a strategic failure,’ said Zolfaghari.
“The one claiming to be a global superpower would have already gotten out of this mess if it could. Don’t dress up your defeat as an agreement,” he added.
News reports revealed that 1,000 troops from the 82nd Airborne Division will be sent to the Middle East in what was expected to be a ground assault of Iran.
Death toll in the Middle East war has reportedly reached 1,500 in Iran; over 1,000 in Lebanon, 16 in Israel and 13 US soldiers.
