Trump eyeing US 'takeover' of Cuba?

PENTAGON, Capitol Hill — To sum it all, United States president Donald Trump wants the ouster of Cuban leader Miguel Diaz-Cancel and a takeover of the island nation.

"I think Cuba sees the end," Trump hinted a warning at imminent change to come as Cuba was plunged into darkness by an island-wide power outage.

“All my life I’ve been hearing about the United States and Cuba. When will the United States do it? I do believe I’ll be the honor of—having the honor of taking Cuba,” the US president spelled out his view of the situation.

He asserted that Cuba is on the brink of collapse and the US may be “taking” the island nation—a cryptic warning to the communist leadership of Cuba as the country was gripped by a deepening economic crisis.
Trump believes he will have “the honor of taking Cuba,” and added he “can do anything I want with” the country, which has been running out of fuel after the US forced Venezuela to end its critical support to the Caribbean state.

Asked to elaborate on what he meant by 'taking' Cuba, which has been controlled by the current communist regime since 1959, Trump indicated the US would intervene “in some form.”

“Whether I free it, take it—I think I can do anything I want with it, you want to know the truth. They’re a very weakened nation right now,” he noted in a dramatic shift from his Friday pronouncement of a “friendly takeover.”
