Newly-installed DPWH boss demands courtesy resignation of all officials

9/1/25, 10:42 AM

By Ralph Cedric Rosario

A few hours after being sworn in as the new head of the Department of Public Works and Highways, Secretary Vince Dizon ordered officials of the department to submit their courtesy resignation, saying that the move is part of a directive from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Ordered to turn in their resignation papers were DPWH officials from the highest position down to district engineers.

Interviewed by reporters after taking his oath of office at Malacañang, Dizon said affected DPWH officials must submit their courtesy resignation “immediately”.

“Akin i-execute immediately sa susunod na araw,” said Dizon.

“Paglilinis ‘yan po ang unang-unang direktiba ng ating pangulo. Nag-usap po kami nang matagal kanina at ang sabi niya, linisin ang DPWN,” he added.

The newly-installed DPWH chief said officials who resigned will be subjected to evaluation to determine whether or not they will be accepted back.

He explained that the move was aimed at cleansing the agency of bad eggs, especially those who are being linked to anomalous flood control and other infrastructure contracts.

Dizon believes that corrupt DPWH officials have been working in collusion with dishonest contractors in defrauding government, thus should be held accountable.

“hindi magkakaroon ng mga ganitong klaseng proyekto kung walang kakuntsaba sa loob ng DPWH,” he said, referring to the recent discovery of “ghost flood control projects”.
