Another impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte will be filed in the House of Representatives on Wednesday (December 4) by progressive organizations.
In a media advisory sent to reporters covering the Lower House, the Makabayan bloc revealed that protest actions will be held simultaneously with the filing of the second move to removed Duterte through impeachment.
“Around 50 representatives from various progressive organizations and concerned citizens, together with the Makabayan bloc, will file an impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte over allegations of corruption and misuse of confidential funds during her stint as education secretary,” the advisory stated.
The filing will take place at 1 pm at the office of Secretary General Reginald Velasco.
The complaint is expected to be endorsed by all three Makabayan bloc lawmakers, namely: Deputy Minority Leader France Castro of ACT-Teachers Partylist: Asst. Minority Leader Arlene Brosas of Gabriela Women’s Partylist and Kabataan Partylist Rep. Raoul Manuel.
The first impeachment complaint was filed Monday by various individuals and sectoral organizations.
The 50-page impeachment complaint accused Duterte of committing culpable violation of the Constitution; graft and corruption, bribery, betrayal of public trust and other high crimes.
Akbayan Partylist Rep. Percival Cendaña endorsed the complaint that counted relatives of victims of extra-judicial killings during the drug war initiated by the vice president’s father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
