Nine out of ten qualified Filipino voters will elect candidates in the 2025 who will push for the creation of more job opportunities and ensure food security, a recent Social Weather Station survey revealed.

But the SWS survey no longer bothered how voters will determine sincerity on the part of candidates who are expected to present a platform that will prioritize employment, together with affordable and sufficient food.

In the SWS survey commissioned by Stratbase Consultancy, most of the 1,800 respondents interviewed want leaders who will pursue concerns on job creation, food security, healthcare, education and support for overseas Filipino workers.

The survey was conducted from January 17 to 20 and has a +2% margin of error.

Stratbase Institute President Victor Manhit said food security “is a reachable goal” that candidates can accomplish.

“Achieving food security is a reachable goal and it is imperative that w keep a laser-like focus on this issue because it affects every Filipino and seeps into eacch aspect of our nation’s life,” said Manhit.

“Job security, on the other hand, must be strengthened to ensure stability for workers. At the same time, Filipino talent remains underutilized due to labor market constraints,” he explained.

Manhit added: “Unlocking the full potential of our workforce is essential for driving economic progress and fostering inclusive growth.”:

The SWS survey results disclosed that 94 percent of the respondents would support candidates who advocate more job opportunities and develop agriculture to ensure food security.

On the other hand, those standing on a platform that would strengthen the health care system received 93 percent of the respondents’ nod.

Equal access to education and workers rights and welfare of OFWs received the support tof 92 percent of the respondents.

Candidates should also be aware that 69 percent of respondents do not consider the legalization of abortion for victims of rape or incest a priority. Also unpopular are support for the civil union of members of the lGBTQIA+ community, 49 percent rejection among respondents; legalization of medical marijuana, 52 percent rejection; and divorce, 35 percent rejection.

The legislative proposal against political dynasty is also not popular amogn respondents with only 59 percent vowing to vote for supporters.

Meanwhile, other issues that gained strong backing and pledges of political support are reduction of poverty and hunger, 87 percent; addressing impacts of climate change, 87 percent; price control of basic goods and commodities, 85 percent; defense of national security and sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea 83 percent and energy security goals and use of renewable energy, 82 percent.
