3/13/24, 10:48 AM

Palawan 1st District Rep. Edgardo “Egay” Salvame passed away early Wednesday, his family announced on Facebook.

“Sa ngalan ng pamilya Salvame, malungkot po naming ibinabalita ang di-inaasahang paglisan sa kabilang buhay ng ating minamahal na Congressman, Manong Edgardo “Egay” Villagracia Lim Salvame, ngayong madaling-araw, ika-13 ng Marso,” the Facebook announcement said.

The family did not reveal the cause of death. Funeral details will be announced later, relatives said.

“Ibinigay niya ang kaniyang buhay, galing at puso para sa ating lahat,” the family added in an FB obituary.

A neophyte in the Lower House, Salvame represented the People’s Reform Party in the 2022 congressional race in Palawan. He won over three other candidates.

As congressman, Salvame authored 71 bills, many of which sought to declare various areas in the country as ecotourism zones. He was vice chairperson of the House Committee on Energy and on Land Use.

In a press statement, Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said: “Cong. Egay was far more than just a fellow lawmaker; he was a true advocate for Palawan, a devoted public servant whose compassion and dedication resonated deeply with those he represented.”

“His life was a testament to purpose and service, devoted to the betterment of others. As we grieve his passing, let us take time to honor his life, and the significant contributions he made,” the House leader added.
