Minaliit ng ilang labor groups ang P35 na daily wage increase sa minimum wage earners sa Metro Manila na anila'y "insulto" sa mga manggagawa.

Inaprubahan kamakailan ng Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board - National Capital Region ang Wage Order No. NCR-25 na magiging epektibo ngayong Hulyo.

Ayon kay Gabriela party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas, mas maliit pa ang wage hike na ito sa P40 na inaprubahan noong 2023.

"This P35 increase is an insult to Filipino workers. It’s barely different from the P25 wage hike implemented way back in 1989, and lower than the P40 hike granted last year," anang mambabatas.

"How can the government expect NCR workers to survive on P645 a day when the Family Living Wage stands at P1,200 and when prices continue to accelerate?" dagdag niya.

Sabi naman ng Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP), ang dagdag-pasahod na ito ay tila sampal sa bawat manggagawa sa Metro Manila.

Dapat daw umanong pakinggan ng pamahalaan ang panawagan nila para sa P150 na daily wage hike.

"As TUCP has repeatedly pointed out, the need to elevate the daily wage above the poverty threshold to afford a family of five at least one nutritious meal a day is inextricably linked to addressing the growing problem of stunted Filipino children due to persistent poverty and inequality," sabi ng grupo.

Dahil sa dagdag-pasahod, ang daily minimum wage ng mga non-agriculture worker sa Metro Manila ay nasa P645.

Para naman sa mga nagtatrabaho sa agrikultura, mga service o retail establishment na may 15 o mas kaunting empleyado, at mga manufacturing establishment na may mas mababa sa 10 empleyado, ang daily minimum ay nasa P608.
