Double-digit price increases on oil products will be implemented this week by the country’s gasoline stations.
However, independent distributor Petro Gazz said it will not join the p;rice hike bandwagon and will implement a PhP5- per liter rollback at selected stations nationwide.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said diesel prices will again suffer raises by around PhP11.88 per liter while kerosene is expected a price tag of additional PhP13.66.
Gasoline prices will go up around PhP6.47 per liter.
Garin said government’s appeal for staggered adjustments from petroleum firms will continue.
Prices of oil products have not stopped increasing since the MIddle East war erupted over three weeks ago.
Fears have also been raised that higher prices, if not lack of supply, might be triggered by United States President Donald Trump’s ultimatum for Iran to end its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a major waterway for the world’s oil supply.
Iran’s threat to bomb oil tankers passing through the strait has sent oil prices soaring.
