Five pro-Quiboloy senators subjected to viral social media condemnation

Five Quiboloy defenders in the Senate have become the target of social media attacks for trying to stop the legislative body from having the religious sect leader arrested for contempt.
Senators Robin Padilla, JV Ejercito, Imee Marcos, Bong Go and Cynthia Villar have submitted “written objection” on the contempt order that Senator Risa Hontiveros sought against the man who claimed to be the “appointed son of God.”
Critics on social media urged readers to mark the five senators and stop voting for them in any election.
Hontiveros, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Family Relations, Women and Gender Equality, has sought the arrest of Quiboloy for repeatedly ignoring panel’s invitation for him to shed light into allegations of sexual and physical abuses he allegedly committed against followers of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
Padilla, a Senate newcomer, has led the attempt to have the contempt order rejected by members of the committee through the support of eight senators.
He has been vocal in his defense of Quiboloy whom he described as a “hero and a victim”, notwithstanding the accusations leveled against the pastor.
Aside from the criminal accusations revealed during the Senate hearings, Quiboloy also faces a string of serious federal offenses in the United States and criminal complaints in the Philippines.
Padilla admitted that Senators Grace Poe and Raffy Tulfo have turned down a reversal of the contempt charge.
Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III has vowed to support Quiboloy’s arrest.
Other committee members being contacted by Padilla were Senators PIa Cayetano, Mark Villar, Joel Villanueva, Nancy Binay and Loren Legarda.
“Si Senator Mark, mga dalawang araw na namin kinokontak pero di pa namin makontak. Sana kausapin siya ni SCV, mabawasan ako ng ano,” said Villar, referring to Villar who is Senator Mark Villar’s mother.
