Appointed by President Marcos as administrator of the Cagayan Economize Zone Authority, Ms. Ponce Enrile said Andanar has been funding the anti-government campaign using vloggers and social media influencers.

“I just found out also that Martin Andanar is not based here he is now in Beijing. He is the one funding all these disinformation like Maharlika and Sass Sasot,” she said in a Tik Tok video that has gone viral.

She added: “They are not doing this out of love for their country.,they are doing this because they are getting paid.”

“But understand that they are being paid from China. When another country is trying to control even the narrative that is going to be brainwashing everybody here, we are in big trouble,” she said.

Andanar , who is currently employed as a news anchor of the China Global Television Network in Beijing, quickly denied the CEZA chief’s accusations.

The head of the Presidential Communications Operations Office during the Duterte presidency described Ponce Enrile’s claims as “fake news.”

Maharlika used to be a pro-Marcos vlogger. In fact, she is known to have openly campaigned for the president during the 2022 elections.

Now based in the United States, Maharlika, who enjoys a huge following, has ceased becoming a Marcos ally a few months after the president’s started his reign. Targets of her criticisms include First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos; PCO chief Cheloy Garafil and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office General Manager Mel Robles, who is now in hot water over controversies surrounding the E-lotto operations.

On the other hand, Sassot is an equally popular vlogger who was known to attack political foes of Duterte.

In her Tiktok post, Ponce Enrile also lamented that “people in power” are usually the butt of criticisms.

“There was never a president here that was truly loved. Being on the toop, isang mali mo lang pupunahin na,” she said.
