DBM to release mid-year bonus for gov’t employees, officials on May 15

Qualified government employees in the country will start receiving their mid-year bonus starting Wednesday (May 15), the Department of Budget and Management has announced.

Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the mid-year bonus corresponds to the one month basic pay that a government worker receives.

Public employees qualified to receive the gratuity are thsoe who have worked at least four months from July of the previous year to May 15 of the current year.

Beneficiaries should be employed in government on the day the incentive is distributed.

The DBM said recipients must also have received at least a satisfactory performance rating during most recent period of evaluation.

Pangandaman said the mid-year bonus is an eagerly awaited additional pay for government workers.

Under the law, the mid-year bonus will be provided all civilian personnel who are currently employed in regular, casual or contractual status.

Officials who are appointed or elected, both full-time and part-time are also included regardless of what branch of government they are connected with.

Also included as recipients are official and employees constitutional commissions, state universities and colleges, governmment-owned or controlled corporations and local government units.
