A Chinese tycoon currently jailed in Thailand over illegal online gambling operations has insisted that he is a Chinese spy just like dismissed Bamban (Tarlac) Mayor Alice Guo.

She Zhijang made the admission in an exclusive interview with international news agency Al Jazeera that produced a documentary titled "She Zhijiang: Discarded Chinese spy or criminal mastermind?”.

She told Al Jazeera that he was an agent of China's Ministry of State Security since 2016 when he met a representative of the agency in the Philippines.

She claimed that Guo is herself a member of the Chinese intelligence, security and secret police agency embedded in the Philippines.

The alleged Chinese spy has been fighting extradition to his country fearing that an execution awaits him in China

“I was exposed to secrets about Chinese state security and Belt and Road projects ... They will definitely kill me if I'm sent back to China," he said.

Al Jazeera was able to access files allegedly supporting She's claim that he is a Chinese spy.

Among the documents were information about Guo Hua Ping, reportedly the real name of Alice Guo when she came to the Philippines.

The dossier matched pieces of information about Guo's alleged tue identity. Included were information about the place of birth and identity of the former mayor's mother, a certain Lin Wen Yi.

Al Jazeera’s investigative documentary also featured interviews in Fujian province with people who knew Guo as the daughter of Lin Wen Yi.

Legislative panels investigating Guo’s link to espionage and illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators are expected to dig deeper into She's revelation to determine the truth behind the embattled former mayor's real identity and purpose in the Philippines
