Residents of a Boston housing complex for seniors citizens belonging to the LGBTQ+ community are confident that similar homes will open in major cities throughout the world.

The Pryde in Boston, capital of Massachusetts opened its doors LGBTQ+ seniors last June, with 74 units made available to them.

The tenants were selected through raffle, indicating that the housing idea is welcome to many LGBTQ+ members who have reached over 62 years old.

The housing complex reportedly features mixed-income housing to welcome a well-secured and comfortable living space to applicants.

Previously a middle school location, the building has been converted into a home for aging LGBTQ+ members.

The planners of the residential complex said the idea of providing homes for them has become vital since many members of the community want to live independently in their own communities.

Gretchen Van Ness, executive director for the Pryde, said the opening last June of the housing complex was historic, clearly indicating her hopes that the idea will trigger similar actions in other places.

Residents are hoping the opportunity will also be opened to fellow LGBTQ+ citizens not only in the US but also in various cities throughout the world.
