“And we are very hopeful and optimistic that by the end of the year, ay talagang ma-achieve natin ang total victory and we can defeat the communists here in Viscom,: Brawner declared in a talk with his men at the Visayas Command headquarters in Cebu on Thursday (February 22).

Brawner visited the command and the 301st Infantry Brigade in Iloilo to personally air his satisfaction in the relentless pursuit by the military of total victory over communist rebels operating in the Visayas.

He enjoined the commanders to continue their operations in eliminating the communist threat in the said areas.

The AFP chief cited the gallantry and love of country displayed by the personnel and commanders of the various military commands in the Visayas region.

According to Brawner the accomplishments made by the units are aligened with the AFP’s overall campaign strategy which is focused at eliminating the remnants of the New People’s Army.

In 2023, the Viscom was able to dismantle six NPA guerilla fronts and neutralized 94 communist rebels. The command also seized a total 314 assorted firearms.
