400 recipients of OVP, DepEd confidential funds non-existent based on PSA birth records

Names of 400 individuals included in the list of beneficiaries of confidential funds allocated to the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education do not have birth records, Manila Rep. Joel Chua has claimed.
Chua, chairman of the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, also disclosed that at least 200 recipients of confidential funds have been found to have duplicate names in Philippine Statistics Authority records.
Interviewed over TeleRadyo Serbisyo, Chua said inquiries over the birth details of persons cited as recipients of confidential funds released by the office of Vice President Sara Duterte and DepEd during her time as secretary do not have birth certificates in the file of the PSA.
As part of its investigation into reported irregularities in the handling of the OVP and DepEd confidential and intelligence fund (CIF), the good government panel requested the PSA to authenticate the birth marriage and death records of individuals who signed acknowledgment receipts of granted fundings.
Chua said the PSA has released its findings indicating that there are no existing records of birth or marriage of the 677 names submitted by the Lower House.
The committee sought a verification of the 677 names after the PSA disclosed that there are neither birth nor marriage records of “Mary Grace Piattos” and “Kokoy Villamin”.
Said names appeared in several receipts submitted by the DepEd and OVP for the liquidation of CIF fund disbursements by the two agencies.
Earlier, Chua disclosed that the good government panel is set to terminate its probe into the alleged misuse of PHP612.5 million in CIF allocated to OVP and DEpEd.
Initially, the panel will recommend two legislative proposal proposing to plug loopholes in the disbursement of government funds, especially the CIF.
Duterte has vehemently allegations that the funds entrusted to her offices have been misuse. She accused the Lower House of exploiting its power of legislative inquiries for political persecution.
She has linked the 2028 presidential elections to the legislative inquiries, claiming that Speaker Martin Romualdez has set his sights at the presidency.
Duterte has admitted she is likewise eyeing the post that will be vacated by President Marcos.
