The facial authentication system for Social Security System pensioners was recently launched in the Zamboanga peninsula.

Pensioners from the region may now be able to complete their Annual Confirmation of Pensioners (ACOP) requirement without visiting SSS branches through the new system of verification.

The SSS Region 9 disclosed that identity verification may now be conducted through online identity using any camera-enabled device.

Napoleon R. Rabanal, senior communicaitons analyst in SSS-Mindanao, said the new digital feature is part of the state-run pension fund’s nationwide modernization efforts.

The facial authentication system allows pensioners to confirm their eligibility through a biometric liveness check on the SSS website. This makes the verification process faster, more secured and more convenient.

Rabanal said the innovation aims to make pension verification more accessible especially for elderly members and those outside the Philippines.

He explained that through the news feature, pensioners may access a dedicated ACOP icon on the SSS homepage at www.sss.gov.ph, which guides them through a facial scan and biometric verification process using any camera-enabled device.

The system, Rabanal disclosed, uses the Philippine Statistics Authority’s National ID eVerify system, allowing secure verification of pensioners who are registered in the national ID system (PhilSys).
