The Taguig City marked the 7th anniversary of its Center for the Elderly on April 10 with the unveiling of upgraded facilities and the launch of a new digital program for senior citizens.

Hundreds of seniors from different barangays gathered at the center on Ipil-Ipil Street in Barangay North Signal, highlighting the city’s continued push to provide accessible, high-quality services for its growing elderly population.

Mayor Lani Cayetano led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, joined by city councilors, Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) head Ramonita Jordan, and Taguig Association of Senior Citizens (TASC) Federation president Nora Pacao. The officials later toured the newly renovated facility.

The upgraded center now offers improved comfort and accessibility across its five floors. The ground level features enhanced conference and pantry areas, as well as better lounges, waiting areas, and an improved OSCA office. The second floor includes a newly partitioned massage area and upgraded gym flooring, while the fourth floor now has improved interiors and additional storage space.

The fifth-floor cinema has been equipped with a 4K projector and enhanced sound system, while the rooftop has been transformed into a greener, more relaxing space with plants and grass.

In her message, Cayetano reaffirmed the city’s commitment to its senior citizens.

She said the local government aims to make every elderly resident feel valued and recognized as partners in preserving Filipino culture and traditions. She also expressed hope for their continued health and strength to guide younger generations.

The mayor also credited taxpayers for making these programs possible, noting that for the past seven years, the city has been able to deliver free, quality, and innovative services for its senior citizens.

A key highlight of the celebration was the launch of the Basic Computer Program for Seniors, which aims to help elderly residents keep up with today’s digital world.

Executive Assistant for Health Dr. Cecille Montales emphasized that digital inclusion is essential in ensuring seniors remain connected, informed, and empowered in an increasingly technology-driven society.

If you want, I can also tighten this further into a shorter newspaper version or suggest stronger headline options.
