NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro - How much will a 76-year-old senior citizen get in reward money for surrendering PHP600,000 in dried marijuana leaves delivered to his address?
This question surfaced after various community and senior citizens groups lauded Tetie Polancos for contributing to the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
Polancos had also been commended by the Davao de Oro Provincial Police Office for his heroic act.
The septuagenarian, a resident of Montevista delivered a parcel that he received at his residence on January 21. He was surprised to learn that it contained five kilograms of suspected dried marijuana leaves.
Immediately after opening the parcel and ascertaining that it was marijuana, he informed Barangay Chairman Noel Molijon of Barangay San Jose, who in turn accompanied him in surrendering the illegal substance to the local police station.
Police authorities said the find may cost PHP600,000 based on street value of the marijuana leaves.
When questioned, Polancos recalled receiving the parcel from a courier service worker. The package details indicated that it was sent by his son-in-law Virgilio Fajardo of General Trias, CAvite.
According to Polancos he thought the package contained clothes and household items, which are the same contents that Fajardo had previously sent him.
