Over 275,000 senior citizens are set to receive ₱10,000 each this year as the initial beneficiaries of a law signed by President Marcos in 2024, which grants financial assistance to elderly Filipinos upon reaching the ages of 80, 85, 90, or 95.

According to Rep. LRay Villafuerte, a total of ₱2.95 billion has been allocated for the first implementation of this benefit under Republic Act 11982, also known as the "Expanded Centenarians Act of 2024."

“These ₱10,000 cash gifts for senior citizens at ages 80, 85, 90, and 95 are in addition to the ₱100,000 incentive granted to Filipinos who reach 100 years old, as mandated by Republic Act 10868, or the Centenarians Act of 2016,” Villafuerte stated.

Among the beneficiaries are 1,079 seniors who received their cash grants during the ceremonial distribution at Malacañang Palace on February 26, along with approximately 7,000 more expected to receive theirs by the end of February.
