NCSC-NCR honors stakeholders for caring for the elderly

The National Commission of Senior Citizens-National Capital Region honored various individuals and organizations for their contribution to programs undertaken by the NCSC for the welfare of the country’s elderly folk.

Awardees received plaques of appreciation during the culminating activity for stakeholders of elderly concerns, said NCSC-NCR action officer Clifford Canillas.

The event took place at Aberdeen Court in Quezon City at the end of the week-long celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week.

Acting Executive Director Emmanuel Daez lauded the awardees for demonstrating their “unwavering commitment” to the concerns of the senior citizens, particularly for their support in ensuring the success of NCSC-NCR projects.

Commissioner Mary Jean Loreche, NCSC officer-in-charge sent a video message airing the heartfelt gratitude her organizations wanted to extend the stakeholders.

Also gracing the festive occasion was Pateros Mayor Miguel Ponce III who was invited as the guest speaker.

Ponce is one of only four senior citizen chief local executives in metro Manila. The two others are Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano of Pasay City and

Imelda Aguilar of Las Piñas City.

Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez turned 60 only last October 4.

Honored during the event were the following: former QC Councilor Jorge L. Banal, president of Federation of Senior Citizens Associations of the Philippines-Quezon City; Director Ann Ray Villota Rivera of Department of Agriculture; Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation; Norma R. Datol, president of the Zabarte North Olympus Senior Citizens Association Inc; MX3 marketing head Rean May Inventor; Bingo Plus Foundation/DigiPlus Interactive; Angel Camins-Weneke of Bingo Plus Foundation; Punong Barangay Diana E. Espinosa of Barangay 649, Manila; Christian John S. Serrano, OIC of Metropolitan Theater Operations Office.
