Noong Lunes ng gabi, naglabas Department Circular 2024-0141 ang DOH para paalalahanan ang mga doktor ng ethical codes para sa medical professionals.

"The Department of Health strictly reminds all health professionals and personnel that accepting gifts, grants, or any emoluments from biopharmaceutical companies or members of the industry in exchange of any act benefitting such company or member of the industry is unethical," ani DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa sa nasabing circular.

"Medical professionals are expected to uphold professional and ethical standards. Societal pressures, financial gains, and administrative exigencies shall not compromise the rights of the patient to quality healthcare services," dagdag pa niya.

Nitong Linggo, isiniwalat ni public health advocate Dr. Anthony Leachon na may mga kumpanya ng gamot na nagbibigay ng salapi o luxury cars sa mga doktor kapalit ng pagrereseta nila nito, kahit hindi naman kailangang sa gamutan ng pasyente.

"This is worse than Pharmally because doctors involved are shoving these drugs and products down patient’s throats. Kalusugan ng tao ang kawawa dito," ani Leachon.

Sabi pa ng doktor, kaya niyang matukoy ang mga kumpanyang sangkot, ngunit mas gugustuhin niyang sila ay matukoy sa panahon ng mga pagdinig sa Kongreso hinggil sa isyu.

Sa isang televised briefing ngayong Martes, hinikayat ni DOH Assistant Secretary Albert Domingo ang publiko, lalo na ang medical professionals, na isuplong sa mga awtoridad ang sinumang sangkot sa gawaing ito.

Iniimbestigahan na raw ng ahensya ang mga kumpanyang sangkot sa ganitong gawain.
