“Yes Babe Her Kiffy Feminine Wash (Strawberry Naughty” has been banned for public distribution not because of its suggestive product name but due to lack of permit from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
In a press statement, the FDA warned all healthcare professionals and the general public not to purchase or use the cosmetic product, saying that it might put the use’s health at risk.
The FDA issued the warning after conducting a post marketing surveillance on the product that apparently had been commercially distributed.
The FDA has not released a Certificate of Product Notification for the product, thus its commercial sale is violative of the FDA Act of 2009.
“Since this unauthorized cosmetic product has not gone through the evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot guarantee its safety, quality and efficacy,” said the agency.
It added: “Such violative products may contain harmful ingredients or impurities that may pose health risks to consumers, such as adverse health reactions, allergies, skin problems or other health issues.”
The public was advised not to purchase the product and report to the FDA its commercial distribution.
“Before b uyin or using any cosmetic product, consumers are advised to always check if a product has authorization from FDA by using the FDA Verification portal at https://verification.fda.gov.ph.” the FDA stated.
Business establishments were also directed not to sell the feminine wash, with the FDA warning that legal action may be pursued against violators.
“This advisory will remain in effect until the product is fully compliant to the regulations of the FDA and issued with a CPN,” the advisory stated.
