THE Parañaque City government has quickly extended assistance to families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Crising (international name Wipha) and the enhanced southwest monsoon, or 'habagat' in its city-wide response to flood areas in the city.

According to Parañaque mayor 'Kuya' Edwin Olivarez, they have already provided hundreds of thousand worth of food and non-food items based on the city's Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Communication (DROMIC) report.

The DROMIC report showed that some 362,000 families, or about 8 million individuals, had been affected.
“Displaced families in evacuation centers are prioritized in the distribution of assistance,” Olivarez disclosed. “Displaced families outside evacuation centers are also provided with aid upon assessment.”

Some families have begun returning home as weather conditions improve. “We’re hoping and praying that there will be no more rains or flooding so they can go back to their normal lives, especially those whose livelihood is affected,” themayor added.
