DoTr, Pasig LGU join hands to resolve ROW in metro subway project

7/31/25, 7:07 AM

ORTIGAS CENTER, Pasig City — During an inspection of the Ortigas Station site of the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP), Pasig City Mayor Victor Maria Regis 'Vico' Sotto met with transportation secretary Vivencio 'Vince' Dizon to act together in finding a way to resolve the right-of-way (ROW) issues hounding the construction of the project's subway station.

“Ngayon nagsama-sama kami dito para maghanap ng solusyon. Hopefully, after a few weeks, we will finally start construction,” Dizon enthused while inspecting the ongoing construction's progress with the city mayor.

He remarked that the efforts to resolve the ROW are in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s order to complete the administration’s flagship transportation projects.

For his part, Sotto thanked the Department of Transportation (DoTr) and offered the city government’s assistance in accelerating construction.

“Kami sa Pasig LGU (local government unit), inaabangan na rin namin iyong subway, kaya gagawin din namin ang makakaya namin para makatulong. Nakikita namin umaandar na lahat at iyong mga natitirang problema naaayos na,” he said.

Mid-July, Dizon had ordered the MMSP’s contractors to accelerate the construction of the ₱488.5-billion subway project and help ease the commute of hundreds of thousands of passengers in the capital region.

The DoTr is fast-tracking the project as the 37-kilometer and 17-station subway line once completed is expected to cut travel time between Quezon City and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City from one hour and 10 minutes to just 45 minutes.
