BEL AIR, Makati City — Aiming to provide essential services to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who have been considered as our modern day heroes for their much needed contributions to the country's overall economy, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. inaugurated the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW)'s one-stop help shop for migrant workers in Makati City.
According to the chief executive, the DMW's one-stop show, dubbed as the Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFW na Nangangailangan (AKSYON) Center, is not just an office but will be a symbol of fast, smooth and integrated service for OFWs.
President Marcos Jr. cited that the new DMW office is "special" since this is a one-stop shop that provides essential services for our OFWs, such as document processing of returnees, OWWA membership, renewal, and other services sought in our DMW.
He announced that the Center will be accessible to meet the needs of those residing in the southern area of the National Capital Region (NCR) as it also houses a designated area called Migrant's Brew that will provide a place to relax while enjoying coffee and refreshments.
The President likewise mentioned that the 'eGov PH app' will be used in the Center to makesl the processing of birth certificates and driver's licenses and checking loan status easier by only using smartphones.
He noted that some OFWs didn't want to come home as they feared they would no longer have jobs when they returned to the Philippines.
"That's why the one-stop shop includes retraining, reskilling, upskilling, and finding job placements wherever. Not solely in the Philippines but also abroad. And that is why, that's what gave birth to this whole system that we have put together today," he clarified.
In ending, Marcos Jr. expressed his administration's commitment to public service, particularly in providing much needed assistance to Filipino migrant workers.
