5M workers in 14 regions benefit from minimum wage increase

INTRAMUROS, Manila — Close to five million private sector workers will directly benefit from the minimum wage increases that were approved by the Regional Tripartite Wage Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) in fourteen regions.
In its latest bulletin the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) announced that some 4,907,584 minimum wage earners in the private sector have been granted daily wage increases that ranged from ₱21 to ₱75.
The labor department disclosed that the RTWPBs issued wage orders in the National Capital Region (NCR), Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and Regions I (Ilocos), II (Cagayan Valley), III (Central Luzon), IV-A (Calabarzon) and IV-B (Mimaropa).
The other areas that were granted wage adjustments were Regions VI (Western Visayas), VII (Central Visayas), VIII (Eastern Visayas), IX (Zamboanga Peninsula), X (Northern Mindanao), XII (Soccsksargen and XIII (Caraga).
Meanwhile, domestic workers or household helps in nine regions were similarly granted increases in their salaries ranging from ₱500 to ₱1,100.
Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed that there are a total of 717,508 domestic workers in the regions of Metro Manila, Cordillera, I, II, Mimaropa, VI, VIII, X and Caraga.
Recently, the Metro Manila wage board issued Wage Order No. NCR-DW-05 granting a ₱500 monthly increase for household helps across the region. The monthly minimum wage in the sector is now ₱7,000.
