Russian internet personality Vitaly Zdorovetskiy is once again in the custody of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) after posting bail in connection with his local cases.
Zdorovetskiy, known for his controversial online content, was returned to the BI Warden Facility at Camp Bagong Diwa following his release on bail from the Regional Trial Court Branch 153 in Taguig City on June 18.
"Despite posting bail for his local charges, he remains under BI custody due to an ongoing deportation case," BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said in a statement released Friday evening. "He is now considered an undesirable alien and will not be allowed to move freely."
The Russian national will remain detained at the BI facility until required by the court for hearings.
On June 11, Zdorovetskiy was transferred to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in Taguig for charges including unjust vexation.
Viado clarified that although Zdorovetskiy is subject to deportation, he will only be sent back to Russia after all local cases have been resolved and any corresponding penalties have been served.
“Justice will be enforced to its full extent. Foreign nationals must abide by Philippine laws while they are here. We will not tolerate any abuse of our hospitality or disrespect toward our citizens and our country,” he added.
Zdorovetskiy was initially arrested in Pasay City on April 2 following complaints of harassment and offensive behavior toward Filipinos, reportedly done to create sensational content for his YouTube channel.
