Two Japanese men killed in Malate riding-in-tandem ambush

Two Japanese nationals died in a hail of bullets fired by a riding-in-tandem gunmen in Malate, Manila on Friday (August 15).
Police are looking into robbery as a possible motive since the assailants reportedly sped off with a bag taken from one of the slain victims.
The identities of the victims have not been released by investigators.
Police said the incident took place around 10 am on Friday along Malvar street.
The victims had just alighted from a taxi when a speeding motorcycle suddenty stopped with the two riders firing their guns at the foreigners.
The suspects then sped off toward Adriatico street carrying one of the victim’s bag.
The Manila Police District said they are still trying to establish the motive behind the attack.
Probers are currently reviewing the CCTV footage within the area and have started questioning witnesses to the incident.
