Rising Filipino tennis idol Alex Eala jumped 16 spots in the latest rankings of the Women’s Tennis Associations and is now currently stationed at No. 31 in the world.

The new record chalked by Eala gave her hope and raised her confidence in improving to higher level of professional women’s tennis.

The improvement followed a magnificent performance at the WTA 1000 Dubai Tennis Championships held recently.

She made a quarterfinal run in the tournament, shocking Italy’s Jasmine Paolini, the World No. 7 with a 6-1, 7-6 (5) win when they met in the second round.

In the next round, the Filipina swept Sorana Cirstea, 7-5, 6-4- in the round of 16.

World No. 4 American Coco Gauf stopped Eala’s amazing run with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.

Gauf later vowed to Ukraine’s
Elina Svitolina, who in turn, was defeated by US star Jessica Pegula.
