TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwan has reported that government departments have sustained an average of 2.4 million cyber-attacks each day in 2024.

The island’s National Security Bureau said Chinese cyber forces have increased the attacks last year.

The Taiwanese government have been complaining against China’s ‘grey-zone harassment” that included daily military drills and balloons near the island to cyberattacks as China ramped up military and political pressure calculated at forcing the island to give up its independence.

Reports from Taiwan disclosed that the island’s Government Service Network or GSN received a daily average of 2.4 million attacks which is double the daily average it received in 2023.

The NSB said there were an avrearge of 1.2 million China-sourced cyberattacks in 2023.

Top targets were Taiwan’s telecommunications, transportation and defense sectors.

China has been consistent in rejecting the accusations made by Taiwan.

However, according to the Taiwan its neighbor have launched several of the attack as China conducts military drills around the island.

Last year, China staged two rounds of major exercises around Taiwan in a bid to apply pressure on Taipei.
