INTRAMUROS, Manila — With the onset of this year's graduation season, the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) has sounded the alarm to caution job seekers over reports of fraudulent job offers and financial scams exploiting job seekers.
In an advisory, labor secretary Bienvenido Laguesma disclosed that they have ramped up efforts to combat job scams amid its ongoing initiatives to protect the public from scammers misusing DoLE’s name and programs.
“Aside from our continuous information dissemination through television, radio and social media, we are coordinating with the (Department of Information and Communications Technology) and law enforcement agencies because prosecution and enforcement are primarily their responsibilities,” Laguesma announced.
“We provide them with inputs, especially since many scams falsely claim that individuals can receive cash assistance just by registering,” he added.
According to the labor chief, they are also strengthening its information technology (IT) infrastructure to protect against CYBER THREATS even as he recalled that in the past two years, scammers had even used President Marcos’ photo to promote fake financial assistance under the government’s emergency
employment programs such as the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD).
