DILIMAN, Quezon City — Amid the holiday season, online shopping scams can now be reported through the eReport feature of the eGov Super App, according to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

In an official announcement, information and communications technology undersecretary David Lopez Almirol disclosed that “their newest feature e-commerce reporting for the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) was launched for consumer protection.

Almirol added that all real-time reports and complaints regarding online scams would be received by the DTI Consumer for prompt response and appropriate action.

"The new e-Report feature streamlines the process of reporting scam numbers. By simply capturing a screenshot of the suspicious text message along with the sender’s number, users can submit it directly to the government via the eGov App,” he cited.

With this service in place, the undersecretary strongly encourages the public to use the eReport and eTravel features of the eGov Super App amid the expected increase of crimes and travels during the Christmas season.

“One of the standouts features of the eGov Super App is the eReport system. Users can easily report different concerns with just a simple click,” he pointed out.

Under its guidelines, users can also report crimes, fire incidents, complaints about red tape, abuse against women and children, among others through the eReport feature of the eGov Super App.

Meanwhile, with regards to the eTravel feature of the government app, a unified digital platform has been set to assist passengers while entering and leaving the Philippines.

"This feature streamlines border control, enhances health surveillance, and provides valuable insights for economic data analysis. It embodies the government’s commitment to efficiency and security in travel processes,” Almirol said.
