The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has cautioned the public against transacting with individuals or groups falsely claiming to be connected with or supervised by the central bank.
In an advisory issued Wednesday, the BSP stressed that its personnel are not authorized to extend loans, solicit funds, or request sensitive information that could compromise the financial accounts of consumers.
The central bank clarified that it does not maintain deposit accounts for individuals and does not engage in transactions between private parties.
To verify the legitimacy of persons or entities claiming ties with the BSP—or to report suspicious or fraudulent activities—the public may call (+632) 8811-1277 or 8811-1BSP, or email bspmail@bsp.gov.ph
