Two teenaged boys are facing charges in connection with the shooting at the Super Bowl victory rally that killed a 43-year-old mother of two and wounded 22 others, including a six-year-old and an eight-year-old, in Kansas City on Valentine’s Day.
Both 17 years or below, the two suspects were among the three minors arrested after being cornered by citizens following the shooting. They will be charged as minors and tried behind closed doors.
They are being held at a juvenile detention. Their identities have been kept confidential due to their young age.
Witnesses have positively pointed to the two suspects as being the shooters.
It was believed that the shooting was a result of an altercation between two groups of young individuals, including girls.
The Jackson County Family Court released a statement saying that the two suspects are facing gun-related and resisting arrest charges. More criminal charges are expected to be filed as soon as the investigation is completed.
Killed in the event was Lisa Lopez Galvan, a popular disc jockey in Kansas City. She was with her husband and two children to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory when a bullet hit and killed her.
Multi-awarded singer Taylor Swift reportedly made two $50,000 donations to a GoFundMe drive for the family of the slain victim.
“Sending my deepest symp;athies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift,” wrote the singer whose boyfriend Travis Kelce is a member of the Chiefs.
