Roque’s wife fired as Pag-ibig exec: More Duterte holdovers next?

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has removed Mylah Roque, wife of former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, from the board of trustees of the Home Development Fund (Pag-ibig) as the rift between the Marcos and the Duterte families widened.
The Presidenial Communications Office announced Tuesday (February 13) that Roque will be replaced by Maria Lourdes D. Doria-Velarde as acting member representing the private employers’ sector.
Roque, a former TV news reporter, was appointed to the Pag-ibig board in 2017 by then President Rodrigo Duterte.
Her firing came exactly a week after Malacañang ordered all presidential appointees to submit documents for their performance review.
The directive triggered speculations that the performance evaluation will be followed by removal of Duterte appointees in holdover capacity under the Marcos administration.
Roque’s sacking came a few days after her husband publicly claimed that the International Criminal Court is set to arrest Duterte anytime soon. He claimed the information came from the former president himself.
The Duterte camp has been harboring suspicions that the Marcos government has allowed ICC investigators into the country to continue its probe of the crimes against humanity filed against the ex-president as a result of the so-called drug war killings during his term as president and as mayor of Davao City.
Atty. Roque was also pointed to as the person who claimed that the Armed Forces of the Philippines has decided to disband the Task Force Davao in time for Duterte’s arrest.
The task force is composed of at least 700 soldiers that has been perceived to be loyal to the Dutertes.
Government dismissed both pieces of information as fake news.
AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. also came out with a statement to belie the former spokesperson’s information about the TFD disbandment.
