Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte assailed as “pure PI” on Wednesday (January 10) the revival by the Marcos administration of the Charter change bid.

“This so-called people’s initiatives for charter change is nothing but pure PI,” he declared in a press statement.

He said: “I am against this people’s initiative as this is not the people’s voice but the voice of a few who wanted to perpetuate themselves in power.”

Members of the Lower House majority have reportedly launched the PI bid in their respective congressional districts amid questions of bribery and suspicious funding source to support the operations.

Duterte said PBA Partylist Rep. Margarita “Migs” Nograles has been reported to spearhead the PI campaign in Davao City. Nograles is the daughter for the late Speaker Prospero Nograles, one of the revered leaders of the city.

“I have kept my silence all through these months since I do not want my constituents to suffer from the dirty politics in the House of representatives,” he said.

The eldest among the three children of ex-President Rodrigo Duterte, Rep. Duterte also chided the leadership of the House of Representatives for :”taking out P2 billion” funding for Davao City, leaving “only a measly P500 million for Dabawenyos this year.”

“To all congressmen ganging up on us, do not give me that kind of BS because I will not starve to death if you take my budget away. Ang kawawa is yung mga Dabawenyos na bumoto kay PBBM,” he stated.

The Lower House is currently under Speaker Martin Romualdez who is reportedly eyeing the 2028 presidency. He is expected to be challenged by Vice President Sara Duterte.

“I also heard from reliable sources that even the senators are explicitly requested to refrain from putting projects in my district,” said Rep. Duterte.

The young Duterte stressed: “Hindi ako luluhod sa inyo para mabigyan ng proyekto lalo na at may 30% pang kinukuha ang isang pekeng panginoon…Again,ang kawawa ay ang mahal kong mga dabawenyo.”

“To all Dabawenyos, do not sell your soul for a mere P100 or 10,000 in exchange for your signature. If you want to follow the MINIONS of the person DREAMING TO BE GREAT in Congress to perdition that is your choice,” the lawmaker stated.
