CAMP CRAME, Quezon City — Amid orders for his arrest by the House Quad Committee led by Surigao del Norte representative Robert Ace Barbers, it is now only a matter of time when ‘fugitive’ Herminio ‘Harry’ Roque Jr. is finally apprehended, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In an official statement, PNP spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo disclosed that they have received vital information on whereabouts of the former spokesperson of ex-president Rodrigo Duterte.
“Without giving specifics, we received some information to the possible (location) of Atty. Harry Roque but we really cannot tell kung saan ‘yan because baka it might hamper doon sa efforts natin (na mahuli siya),” Fajardo stated.
As of press time, police authorities are validating the information even as PNP chief General Rommel Marbil earlier announced that special tracker teams have already been mobilized to search for Roque.
However, Fajardo noted that the PNP will only help in locating Roque but it would be the House sergeant-at-arms who will implement the arrest.
She likewise called on Duterte’s former spokesman to respect the legal process and also warned those who are helping Roque hide from the authorities that they could be charged criminally as accessories.
The Bureau of Immigration had reported the other day that there was no indication that the 57-year old lawyer had left the country.
Roque was cited in contempt and ordered detained by the House Quad Comm after he refused to submit documents that would supposedly justify his increased wealth.
However, Roque insisted that he did not violate the law and that it is only Congress that considers him a fugitive/
“I don’t care. The way I see it, if Congress cited me in contempt, I think Congress is cited in contempt by the people of the Philippines. Hindi po tama iyong ginagawa nila, pasigaw-sigaw, kapag ayaw ng sagot contempt kaagad. Nagpa-power tripping na po sila,” he decried in a 14-minute long video he uploaded in social media.
