Islamic State claims responsibility for the twin Iran bombings; nearly 100 dead

Not the Americans or the Israelis after all.
Iranian officials will now have to take revenge on the twin explosions that killed some 100 people against the Islamic State, and not their arch enemies US and the Israel.
This, after the IS, a militant Sunni Muslim organization, claimed responsibility for the Thursday (January 4) massacre that took place at a memorial in Kerman City for top Irani commander Qassem Soleimani.
The US has claimed responsibility for the drone attack that killed Soleimani on January 2, 2020.
On the other hand, Israel has aired suspicions that Iran had been supporting the Hamas that staged the October 7 raid in communities in Israel, killing 1,200 mostly unarmed civilians.
Foreign news outlets revealed that the IS aired its claim thru acknowledged channels on Telegram messenger. To further bolster authenticity of its claim, the group later posted an image on Amaq, its news outlet, showing two masked who were allegedly responsible for the two bombings.
Both are reportedly suicide bombers commended to stage the terrorist attack.
The first detonated his explosive belt as he blended with Soleimani’s supporters during the memorial while the second set off his explosives 20 minutes later.
The reports even identified the bombers as “Omar al-Muwahhid” and “Sayfullah al-Mujahid” - names that are generic and used to cover their nationality.
Iranian authorities have initially placed the casualties at 95 dead and at least 284 injured.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed relatiation, saying this will take the form of a “harsh response” to those behind the bombings.
“Cruel criminals must know that they will be strongly dealt with from now on and undoubtedly there will be a harsh response,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
